Get ready to jump
Before he was the toast of the art-house film world and before he was mega-pirate Captain Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp was Officer Tom Hanson and he was just one part of the crack squad of youth police down at the old Jump St chapel.
Yes, in the 80s, when the youth went wild and crime rates were sky high, there was only one way to deal with these teen thugs, and that was with teen cops.
Pretty much, every week a couple from the regular gang would go undercover down at the local highschool and kick some ass and take some names.
My favourite episodes were the ones where Tom Hanson and my man Doug Penhall (Peter DeLuise) would team up as the McQuaid brothers. They would go off to the local school and beat the kids up and pretty much act like the tough guys of the school. Great stuff.
Usually they were busting fake ID rings, marijuana dealers and various other thug-like activities.
Later on Richard Grieco was added and then his spin-off, Booker, turned into some kind of ill-fated show too.
And just on cue with absolutely everything else, it is set to be made into a movie, currently under development as we speak.
The most memorably thing about the series though would have to its classic theme tune, which would have to be in the top 10 show themes of the 80s. Check it out below.
“Your friends will be there when your back is to the wall. You'll find you'll need us cause there's no one else to call.”

Didn't the female lead, Holly Robinson, sing the theme song?
