Um, I read that list and you don't necessarily have to be a kid from the 80's to know that. Although I will say that I do love the 80's and probably know more because of that even though it's not my generation.

To all of you "I remember these and I'm not from the 80's" You must understand that this list is meant to show who is TRULY a child of the 80's. Yes, you MAY have grown up on this stuff... But WE tested it. WE Scraped our elbows when the bigwheel spun out and hit a high edge. WE made ALF cool. WE proved that Slap wrist bands were THE item to have. WE Memorized all the lines to The Goonies, Back to the Future, The Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, Weird Science and the Karate Kid.
Not only did WE do this, but we did it FIRST.
I'm not saying you guys weren't cool... But you're just not 80's kids is all.

And for the record, a recent trip into one of the boxes in my storage unit revealed NOT ONLY my still working Atari2600, but an old slap bracelet as well... It's a little worse for wear, a tad bit of rust...but still slappable. (My wife had a field day when I walked into the kitchen wearing it) "What the HELL is that thing??"

The TRS-80 computer from radio shack with 16K of memory for us poor folk that couldn't afford a Commodore 64, The day they strung cable TV through our backyards, Coleco vision game system? Getting kicked out the house until the streetlights came on, The cadillac of big wheels is the Green Machine. Rotary dial telephones and leather furniture. The day dad brought home the microwave and I ate untoasted melted cheese sandwiches and liked it. Parents shopped at K-mart, Hills or the mall. I wanna go back to then.

A few weeks ago, I took my 10 yr-old nephew to the Smithsonian, and he absolutely could not grasp the appeal of the Lite Bright and the Speak and Spell which were displayed on the wall. Yes, our childhood toys are now memorialized in a museum. God I feel old.

Being BORN in the 80's and being a KID of the 80's are definately not the same thing! If you were born after 1985, you really don't remember any of the 80's. So you really had to be born in the late 70's to get the full "child of the 80's" effect.

Gremlins were real and you collected Furbies! You can sing the tune to Fraggle Rock and wanted to live under water with the Snorkles. And as a teen a bottle of hair spray would last 2 days if you were lucky!!!

The 80s were the best decade to grow up in. I'm absolutely an 80s kid and feel for the kids now who don't know the innocence and imagination of that time.

I miss that decade...being born in the late seventies and now totally nostalgic about the era thanks to this site. That was the greatest time ever, together with the nineties. No high-tech stuff, just your own imagination to keep you busy. Playin' outdoors, sneakin' away without your parents knowin' it. What I wouldn't give to turn back time... Life after thirty isn't so much fun, is it?
Great site, part of my favorites now....

I think it's funny we were always groggy waking up for school, but we can be up at 530 on Saturday for cartoons. Shows like Jem and SilverHawks and the Dinosaucers...I still remember when A-Team had their own cartoon!

I was born in 1973 so I can say I was 7 years old in 1980, I even vaguely remember what happened with John Lennon, but also the good times with the Atari games ..I also had this fourascent clothes and ponytail, and Full House seemed cool, and my first casette I bought in 1982(my mom bough me) Nik Kershaw .. I was terrified of Gremlins, and fascinated by Neverending story.
To the owner of the globe, you forgot the Muppet show ..

I was born in 1985. I consider myself to be an 80's baby/90's kid. I remember certain things from the eighties but those things were still popular in the early 90's. I wore jelly sandals, and snap bracelets. I had a speak and spell. I watched Punky Brewster religiously. I also had a huge crush on Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block. I had a VHS with some of the music videos, interviews and behind the scenes footage of New Kids and I watched it until the VCR ate my tape. I also had Garbage Pail Kids trading cards. I used to watch Double Dare and for a REALLY long time my favorite movies were Willow and Batman(I watched the hell out of Batman. My parents still talk about it to this day). I also had cassette tapes and vinyls. I used to listen to stories like Bony Legs and the Gingerbread man(both of which terrified me) on vinyls. I remember playing my parents Cyndi Lauper vinyl to no end and wishing that i could grow up and wear a newspaper skirt like she did lol. I definitely remember a decent amount of things from that period but like I said these same things were popular in the early 90's as well. I think to get the full spectrum of the 80's you definitely had to be born before 85. I think I got the aftermath of the 80's lol.

Could somebody please turn back time? Just to let us relive it consciencely?
