Dirty Dancing

I carried a watermellon
Lets just get it out there – chicks dig this movie...I mean, they really dig it.
I guess there is just something about dancing and doing it in a dirty way with a shirtless Patrick Swayze.
Believe it or not, it is actually one of the romantic movies that I can actually stand to watch. I can dig some of those early 60s tunes, and there is some pretty un-intentionally funny moments too, like my favourite one where, for some reason, Patrick is miming the lyrics to the song their dancing to (Time of My Life), like he’s singing to Baby – but he’s not.
I remember my sisters used to watch it when we were young and on review, it is kinda hardcore for kids to be watching. I guess its similar to an episode of Degrassi (Degrassi post) – you know, the sex, the abortion, the dance...
Anyway, there's no way kids could watch it these days.
Patrick did get cool for a bit, like when he smashed that dude, then knocked out the window in his car...to take a chick dancing in the river. Classic.
It also had one the biggest 80s sountracks (Soundtracks to the 80s post), and has sold millions. The best song being the dramatic ballad Shes Like The Wind that Swayze actually managed to belt out himself! Unfortunately, he never did sing again...
In all seriousness though, I wish the dude the best of luck and truly hope he makes a full recovery – after all, he is an 80s legend.

Now that will really be interesting to test as I watch it again, after so many years. And I am sure that being 12, my daughter will be the first to hide behind a pillow and yell yuk (loudly) if it is too germy on the romance-o-richter..*lol* looking forward to it even more now... will come back and let you know how it played out the second time around (for me)?
