Roadhouse

Finally back to the eighties after a short hiatus in the now.
Sorry to all the 80's fans, but I was on holidays, then sick, then I got engaged too.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who kept the hits ticking over.
So now we're going into what some no doubt perceive as one of the shining gems in the golden age of cinema.
Yep, you guessed it - Roadhouse.
Partick Swayze, the poor bastard, got cancer pretty badly lately - but he kicked its arse like he did to everyone in this movie.
Everyone.
The premise of the movie is actually fairly original and could have been a much better flick, but at some point the direction is lost and it turns into a 2 way city fight.
Apparently the original script was much different, but after most of the filming, the studio decided to go the more hardcore action route.
I hadn't seen this movie in 15 years until the other night.
The funniest thing is how many people get killed and buildings get burned down without the police showing up...ever!
They finally show up at the end when the big boss is dead, but obviously no one gets booked for that...he was a bad guy you see.
Sam Elliott is always cool, and Jeff Healey is a class act.
Swayze carried his rigid fighting style in to one of my favorites - Point Break (unfortunately not 80's) and then mainly left his fighting boots at home.
Its a shame really.
He had a great role in Donnie Darko, maybe Quentin Tarantino or someone should cast him in their next film and get some resurrection going.
'That gal's got entirely too many brains to have an ass like that.'
