Steve Guttenberg week
December 8th 2008 23:21
As Steve Guttenberg Week comes to a close here at BTTE, we look ahead towards the great man’s future, and also what you might have missed in the last few years...
Well, he’s been busy of late on Dancing with the Stars in the U.S, where he was unfortunately recently voted out – hang in there buddy!
But, the future is looking bright for The Gutte as he heads full-steam back to the eighties himself.
Yes, Police Academy 8 is in the works, and not only is Mahoney back in blue, but The Gutte is also slated to direct!
He said himself that the whole cast is back on board with him also.
As if that wasn’t enough – seeing as Ted Danson and Tom Selleck are as washed up as him, they have all agreed to return for a third instalment of Three Men, aptly entitled Three Men and a Bride.
Yes, Steve has literally gone Back to the Eighties.
But, just earlier this year, a tabloid reporter pressed The Gutte for a little too long until Steve introduced his close friend 'Righty McSledgeHammer' into the situation, before finishing off with a single finger salute. Great work Steve, no one feels sorry for those leeches.
The best Guttenberg news going around is how he was caught running in Central Park without pants on – that’s right girls, this is what you have been waiting for...not.
After it hit the news and the internet, it was eventually revealed that the whole thing was a hoax staged by Steve himself! The man is a promotional genius! With this kind of publicity he is sure to be back on top of the B-grade honour role before long.
He said he made the video for Will Ferrell's Funny or Die website, but then decided to release it virally "as if it was real".
But, there’s still more – as part of challenge set on the show, he then went on to become the Guinness World Record Holder for preparing the most hot-dogs in one minute!
Is there anything he cannot do?
Well, it’s been great paying tribute to such a legend over this past week. If anything, it has reminded me of the quality and excellence that the decade came to produce...
Good luck in the future Steve – BTTE salutes you.
I usually end with a quote. The Gutte has made so many great speeches about himself, I had to leave a few – and yes, they're all really his!
'A gay man can be friends with a straight man. That can happen.'
'Everyone keeps asking me, What are you doing? I say, Why do I need to do anything? I'm rich.'
'From 1980 to 1990, I shot more films than any other actor in the Screen Actors Guild, apart from Gene Hackman.'
'I love the fame and the money and the power. You have to keep working to have that.'
'I'm not bragging but my movies have grossed well over a billion dollars.'
'I'm not going to say, I'm an actor and I'm changing the world. Who cares?'
'I'm somebody who deserves to be supported and encouraged to continue my work because I have a lot to give.'
'I'm somebody who's really contributed to culture. Popular culture.'
'I've made a lot of people a lot of money, and I've made a lot of people really happy. I've entertained millions and millions of people.'
'If you're an underdog, mentally disabled, physically disabled, if you don't fit in, if you're not as pretty as the others, you can still be a hero.'
'Let's look at people as artists and try to support them; just because Picasso painted a couple of bad paintings, that's no reason to say he's a lousy painter.'
'Someone's just told me the English are still trying to take over the United States - is that true?'
'Typecasting is a good thing. It's good to be known for what you do.'
'You can tell when you're in a hit.'

Where indeed!
I never took to the police acadamy madness with any zeal and so ole Gutte dropped off the edge for me after Short Circuit.
My other favourite?
*Dont tell her its me* where he plays Lobo the New Zealander, an absolute scream!
Love it! Sounds like someone who is enjoying his wealth and not dogged by the mania of earning too much more than he needs. I can always respect a lack of greed in a man.
A great tribute to a talented fellow, not bad lookiing either
