Top 10 Bruce Springsteen Songs

Born to be the boss
Bruce Springsteen was one of the biggest artists of the 80s. Depending on what mood he’s in, Bruce can really rev you up or depress you to your soul. His real strength has often been in his LP albums like The River, but I’ve stuck mainly to his singles...
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN SONGS
Dancing in the Dark – Born in the USA
This was his biggest ever single and had a classic video with a very young Courteney Cox. There’s a classic SNL sketch where Adam Sandler does it with Courtney – the song, I mean.
Streets of Philadelphia – Philadelphia soundtrack
An Academy Award and Grammy-winning song – and deservedly so. This represents the latter half of Bruce’s career perfectly. I once made a film-short in sepia with my mate Gormo and used this song as its backing; can’t get much moodier than that.
I’m on Fire – Born in the USA
My favourite Springsteen song and an early indication of what was to come from him in later years. It’s one of those songs that I can relate to and can stir me at any time – “At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet and a freight train running through the middle of my head.”
Born to Run – Born to Run
Brucie boys first hit and it’s a lot more up-tempo than his later stuff. Working class Jersey boy does good.
Secret Garden – Jerry Maguire soundtrack
This originally came out with his Greatest Hits album but didn’t make any waves until it was featured in Cameron Crowes Jerry Maguire. My bro used to watch this film heaps at a bad time in his life. It still reminds me of him – powerful stuff.
Born in the USA – Born in the USA
This song has always been the perfect irony, in that every American thinks it is a patriotic and proud anthem, when the lyrics are in-fact the complete opposite.
Glory Days – Born in the USA
Another one of the seven hits from his mega-album. Everyone has met that ex-highschool jock that is still reliving those early days. No one displayed it better than on this song or on Napoleon Dynamite.
Hungry Heart – The River
The classic thing about this song is that it was actually written for The Ramones after Joey met Bruce in a park one day. Springsteen wrote this that same night and his manager made him keep it. Lucky for him...and Ramones fans.
Brilliant Disguise – Tunnel of Love
This song is about a dude losing touch with his wife and feeling that she doesn’t even know him. Scary, considering I’m getting married in a few weeks...
The Wrestler – The Wrestler soundtrack
The man does another brilliant and stirring soundtrack to last years The Wrestler. Mickey Rourke called in a favour and asked for a song – Bruce wrote it in a few minutes. It’s his bread and butter.
“I saw my reflection in a window; I didn’t know my own face.”

It's one of those songs that has the ability to take you someplace else.
The perfect song for a dreamer.
An incredibly sexy man in a little bloke's body...
I think it's that smile of his - it could light up a fricken stadium.
