Vanilla Ice

vanilla ice

We've already talked about a few other Ice-men in the game, but not the Iceman.
I'm talkin' about the biggest O.G, pimp daddy rapper of them all.

I know - its obvious.
This blog is about Vanilla Ice. Who else could it be?

Robert Matthew Van Winkle is a perfect example of that weaning period in the late eighties and early nineties that was just all over the place.

He was one part Ice T, one part Bobby Brown, and a couple of parts New Kids on the Block.
In the time of happy pants and huge gumby high-top hair-do's, the Ice-man rained supreme.

Only MC Hammer and Marky Mark came close to Ice's coolness.

cool as ice
He first came out in '89 with Play that Funky Music.
But when that only got limited play, some crazy D.J. in the south decided to turn that puppy over and play the B-side to the single. That song was Ice Ice Baby, and the rest is history. Literally.

Because after a huge cameo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, the Iceman split in his 5.0, and was rarely seen again for about a decade.

He did a movie in '91 called Cool as Ice, and if anyone has seen it, they have to leave a comment, because it looks like the funniest thing ever.
I've seen a few shots, and noticed he had that checkerboard pattern shaved into his hair - man I remember cool kids at school having those...truth is - I wanted 'em!
Man, I gotta do a 90s blog...

Anyway, if you haven't seen him for a while - he looks a bit different, but he's still kickin' around. It doesn't matter how many tattoo's or piercings he gets, or how tough his goatee is - he'll always be Vanilla Ice to me...

vanilla ice now

'Yo, VIP, Let's kick it!'

Why would you name your kids 'Dusti Rain' and 'Keelee Breeze'? Is he hoping to inspire his children to become meteorologists? That's if his pet wallaroo, Bucky, doesn't kick him in the nuts first.
